OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

On 13-15 July 2015 an International Conference on Molecular and Supramolecular Carriers for Imaging and Therapy took place in Lisbon, Portugal. See our website for the programme and a photo impression.

A second set of YouTube videos and Wikipedia/YourFormula websites were made by the fellows. All YouTube videos and Wikipedia/YourFormula are available on our website.

In Spring 2015, Johannes Postema provided an interactive workshop for the primary school in Hehlen, Germany. This workshop was meant to teach children about (radio)chemistry and also to increase their interest in science.

On the 27th of May, 2015 Oleksandra Ivashchenko gave a lecture about the use of radiation in nuclear medicine (medical imaging), with main focus on basic principle of SPECT and diagnostic and therapeutic applications of the imaging modality. This lecture was part of the Annual visit of undergraduate students from the Cocker School of Engineering (University of Texas at Austin, Nuclear and Radiation Engineering Program) to the Reactor Institute at TU Delft. About 30 undergraduate students attended the Annual visit.

30 May 2013 Johan Postema provided an interactive workshop for group 5 of the primary school ‘Schapendel’ in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. This workshop was meant to teach children about (radio) chemistry and also to increase their interest in science.

The school published a report of the day (in Dutch) and some photos and the local newspaper dedicated an article to the technique class (in Dutch).

26 April 2013 During the Open House of the Reactor Institute Delft, which was organized on the occasion of their 50th anniversary, fellows presented the Trace ‘n Treat project to the public. We would like to share the presented posters with you:
Marie Curie Actions Initial Training Network
Production of radionuclides
Molecular carriers for radiolabelling
Supramolecular nano-carriers
Labelling for use in PET scanners
Testing the therapeutic and diagnostic potential of molecular carriers in vivo (1)
Testing the therapeutic and diagnostic potential of molecular carriers in vivo (2)

16-17 November 2014 – Polymer Winter School, Ghent University,
Prior to AMBA 2014 Ghent University organized a Polymer Winter School for Trace ‘n Treat fellows. The winter school combined hands-on demo sessions covering a plethora of topics including polymer synthesis, modification, processing using a.o. fused deposition modelling and characterization. In addition, informative lectures will be given by experts in the field of Biomaterials (e.g. ESB Jean Leray awardee Lorenzo Moroni will present a talk on polymer processing via 3D printing). Other topics that will be covered, are polymers, hydrogels and stem cells.
